Bespoke

Surf trips, fully produced

We don't send you somewhere.
We come with you.

Most operators hand you a booking and wish you luck. We do the opposite. We pick the coast because we've surfed it. We choose the stay because we've slept there. And we're on the ground the whole week, handling the transfers, the food, the things that go sideways, so your group thinks about one thing: the waves.

What we do

Host. Curate. Produce.

Three things, and we don't hand any of them off.

01

Host

On the ground with you, start to finish. Not a rep, not a partner agency. Us.

02

Curate

The right coast, the right stay, the right coaches. Nothing off-the-shelf, nothing booked from a screen.

03

Produce

Logistics, food, vendors, content, side programming. All of it, handled, and we stay responsible for it.

How it works

Four steps, from first call
to last wave

01

Brief

Tell us about the group, the occasion, the budget, and anything that's fixed: dates, numbers, must-haves. We come back with first thinking within a few working days.

02

Concept

One or two directions: where to go, where to stay, a draft programme, and a budget you can actually plan around.

03

Production

Contracts, coaches, transfers, vendors, content, side programming. We line it all up, and we stay responsible for all of it.

04

On location

We're there the whole time. After the trip, a debrief, and the full content if that was part of it.

Who we build for

Different reasons to go.
Same people behind it.

Six ways groups come to us. Every one of them gets built from scratch.

Team trips & company retreats

Get the team out of the meeting room and into the water. Surf is the great leveller. Everyone starts as a beginner at something, and that changes how a group works together. We handle the stay, the coaching, the food, the logistics. You bring the team.

Best for: 8–25 person company trips, leadership weeks, and team retreats.

Plan a team trip →

Surf training camps

Serious water time for clubs, federations and athletes. High training volume, the right waves for the level, and everything off the water handled, so the group thinks about one thing only. We build these end to end, from the swell windows to the recovery.

Best for: 2-week to 3-month training programmes for groups of 6–20.

White-label retreats

A complete retreat, run by us, sold under your name. Stays, coaching, logistics, programming, all built to your standard and delivered to your clients. They get a seamless week. Your guests never have to know we're behind it.

Best for: travel agencies, brands and operators who want a turnkey retreat to offer their own clients.

Celebrations & events

Big moments worth gathering for: milestone birthdays, anniversaries, micro-weddings, surf wedding weekends. The surf gives the days a rhythm; the occasion sets the tone. We produce the whole thing, you stay in the moment.

Best for: 20–40 guest celebrations across a long weekend or full week.

Discuss a celebration →

Brand & content trips

Content-led trips with talent, athletes or creators. We handle the coast, the stays, the surf direction, the fixers, the on-location production. You walk away with the footage, and a trip the team actually enjoyed.

Best for: brand activations, athlete trips, and creator retreats.

Discuss a brand trip →

Custom productions

Doesn't fit a box? Most of our best work didn't either. If you've got a group, a reason, and a feeling that surf belongs at the centre of it, tell us. We'll figure out the rest.

Best for: anything multi-destination, multi-week, or built around a specific brief.

Where we work

Four continents, one standard

Wherever we take a group, we bring the same thing: local partners, stays we trust, coaches we've surfed with, and someone on the ground throughout.

Europe

  • Portugal: Algarve, Ericeira, Peniche, Lisbon coast
  • Spain: Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias, Galicia
  • France: Hossegor, Biarritz, Les Landes
  • Plus all major European surf coasts on request: Ireland, Scotland, the Canary Islands, the Azores, Madeira

Central America

  • Costa Rica: Nosara, Santa Teresa, Tamarindo, Pavones
  • Nicaragua: Popoyo, San Juan del Sur
  • Panama: Bocas del Toro, Santa Catalina

Asia

  • Indonesia: Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa, Mentawai, Sumatra, G-Land
  • Sri Lanka: Arugam Bay, Weligama, Hiriketiya

Africa

  • Mozambique: Tofo, Ponta do Ouro

Not on the list?

Ask anyway. Sometimes the right answer is a coast we haven't named here, and sometimes it's steering you somewhere that fits the group better.

One we built

A birthday retreat on the
Portuguese Coast

  • The briefA milestone birthday celebrated with 12 friends. An active bunch, but most of them had never surfed before. A full week of surfing, exploring, relaxing and spending quality time together.
  • What we builtThe perfect combination of nature and city life. A few days of exploring Lisbon, eating their way around the city, staying in a personal boutique sanctuary in the middle of it, with a full itinerary of original walking routes, museum visits and the best hospitality the city has. Then we moved to a private surf villa on the Sintra coast. Daily surf sessions, relaxing yoga classes, a private chef cooking up a daily feast, and a programme to explore the area.
  • What they didMorning surf sessions, big breakfasts, yoga, Sintra by tuktuk, a pottery class, and a birthday celebration personalised from beginning to end.
Who you'll actually be dealing with

Two of us. One phone number.

We're Jonne and Marthe. Mokum Surf Club started as a surf travel blog. Years on the road, reviewing hotels professionally and writing about the best waves in the world. Then we stopped writing about other people's places and ran our own: a surf hotel at the end of a dirt road in Costa Rica. So when we tell you a stay is worth it, there's a lot of mileage behind that judgement.

  • You talk to us, not to a desk. The person who answers your first message is the person standing on the beach with your group. No handover, no account manager, no "let me check with the team".
  • We build from places we know.Wherever we can, we've surfed the wave and slept in the bed before we put you in it. Where we haven't been ourselves, we lean on people who live there, and we'll tell you which is which.
  • We say no more than we say yes.If a date is too tight, a coast is wrong for your group, or the budget won't buy what you're picturing, you'll hear it straight away. That's cheaper for everyone than finding out later.
  • Nothing off the shelf.Every trip gets built from the brief up. It's slower for us and better for you, and it's the only way we know how to do this.
Who we work with

The people behind every trip

We work direct with teams, brands and federations, and behind the scenes with the people who make a trip actually run. Local coaches who grew up on the wave. Boutique stays we'd book ourselves. Private chefs, photographers, fixers, event producers. Chosen per trip, never off a list.

For agencies, brands and operators, we also produce white-label: your retreat, your name, our work on the ground. Most of that work sits under NDA, which is exactly why partners keep using us.

Questions groups ask us

The honest answers, before you have to ask.

What does a bespoke trip cost?
There's no price list, and we'd be lying if we pretended there was. It comes down to three things: how many of you there are, where you go, and how long you stay. A long weekend for a small team sits at one end; a multi-week production across two destinations sits at the other. What doesn't change is the standard. We do premium, and we make sure nobody in your group has to think about a thing. Tell us the shape of it and we'll come back with a number you can actually plan around, long before you commit to anything.
How far in advance should we book?
Sooner is better, and that's not us being pushy. The good houses go early, especially for bigger groups, so planning ahead simply means more to choose from. Eight to twelve months is the sweet spot; six to eight works comfortably for most trips. It also gives your people time to actually commit, which is usually the slowest part. We've pulled off faster, and if a date is too tight to do properly we'll say so rather than take your money and cut corners.
How big can a group be?
Six is where it starts making sense. Most trips land somewhere between 8 and 25. Celebrations stretch to about 40. Bigger than that and it turns into a different animal. Still possible, but let's talk it through before anyone promises anything.
What's actually included?
Everything from the moment you land to the moment you leave: the stay, the coaching, every meal, the transfers, the off-water programme, and one of us there the whole time. Flights we leave to you, so everyone can route themselves. Content, side events and extra programming get quoted separately. Not to nickel-and-dime you, but so you can see exactly what you're paying for and drop what you don't want.
Who's responsible if something goes wrong?
We are. We book the vendors, we hold the relationships, and we're standing there when the van doesn't show up, fixing it on the spot instead of emailing about it from another timezone. Things do go sideways occasionally; that's travel. The difference is whose problem it becomes. All of it is set out in writing before anything is confirmed, and we'll happily talk your legal or finance people through it.
Can you run it under our brand?
Yes, and we do it a lot. Your retreat, your name, our work on the ground. Your clients get a seamless week and never need to know we were behind it. Happy to sign an NDA before we get into the details.
How does payment work?
Nothing is paid until we've agreed the concept and confirmed everything is actually available. After that it's 50% to lock in the house and the vendors, and the rest three months before you fly. Terms are set per project and always in writing. We invoice as a Dutch company, and purchase orders are no problem if that's how your finance team works.
We don't know where we want to go. Is that a problem?
Honestly, that's often the better place to start. Tell us who's coming, roughly when, what you want out of the week and what you want to spend. Matching that to the right coast is the bit we're genuinely good at. More than once the answer has been somewhere nobody in the group had thought of.
Do you handle photo and video?
Yes, and properly. This isn't a bolt-on. We come from filmmaking and run our own creative agency alongside this. Content can be built into the trip from day one, shot by people who already know the coast and don't need three days to work out where the light is good.
